Description
Carl Eickhorn, etched squirrel holding sword TM. Uncleaned silver-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear with dark age patina to pommel and crossguard. Pommel shows one area of missing plating to the obverse brow of eagle’s head. Reverse crossguard is personalized, “S – S” in lightly jeweler engraved letters. Off-white grip plates show light surface wear with a crack on the center obverse plate and a tiny hairline crack on the left center edge of the reverse plate. Plated blade grades EX/EX+ showing surface wear/runner marks, gray shadowing/speckling and surface scratches to the obverse/reverse edges, but no nicks to the cutting edges. Deeply etched motto shows minor wear to the medium gray background frosting. Uncleaned, dent-free, silver-plated scabbard shows light surface wear with dark age patina with excellent detail to blued/stippled panels. Reverse upper scabbard is personalized, “Sch. St.” (possibly for “Schule Stab” (School Staff), in lightly jeweler engraved letters. Dagger is complete with brown leather hangers which show light wear to leather and to Assmann-marked upper clip and buckles. Nice personalized example. EX+.
