Description
No maker mark is correct for this 1936 chained SS dagger. This is the SS dagger most Third Reich collectors would like to have, but very few do because of the difficulty in finding one. The nice black ebony grip has perfect fittings, the obverse side has one chip over the SS rune, one chip that has been repaired under the SS rune, indentations around the grip eagle insert, and chips on the base of the grip adjacent to the lower grip fitting. The reverse side of the wooden grip has chipped wood at the seams of the upper and lower fitting areas. Internal crossguards are deeply stamped with the “St” caster mark. The beautiful blade will grade EX++/NM with minor runner marks to both sides and the very tip of blade appears to be missing. The original black lacquered scabbard retains 90% of original paint and no dents. The grip hilt fittings are nickel/silver and in mint condition. Chain links are gold tone and show the very desirable dark burnishing on all of the links and bears the SS runes stamping. The upper and lower scabbard fittings are in mint condition and the ball of the lower fitting remains intact with no damage. EX++/Near Mint
