Description
David Malsch – Steinbach/Thur., DM within horizontal, lightly etched, single-oval TM. Nickel-silver hilt fittings show surface wear/yellow age patina to pommel, ferrules, lower crossguard and brass pommel/crossguard swastikas. Dark blue leather grip shows surface wear/age, but no rips or tears and is complete with tight twisted, triple wire wrap. Plated blade grades EX+ showing light surface wear/runner marks, with a few tiny nicks to the cutting edge, but no pitting. Blade is complete with blue leather buffer pad. Blue leather scabbard with metal base shows surface wear with no loss of leather to shell. Upper, center, and lower scabbard fittings show surface wear/age with all five, flush-mounted retaining screws present. Upper scabbard fitting is personalized with “Zum Geburslay Ofhziere, Unleroffiziere v. Schreibslube der Landes – Schulzen Komp. 3/XII 1940” which means ”On the occasion of the birthday of the officers, junior officers of the clerk’s office of the Lander-Schulzen Komp. 3/XII 1940”. Aluminum chain hanger featuring 7 upper and 9 lower rings is complete with properly working clip. Has portepee wrapped around lower crossguard in Exc+ condition.
