Initials version A W S with scales (Alcoso Werk stamped TM). An example of this sword appears on page 65 (lower left) of Swords of Germany 1900-1945 by John R. Angolia. Brass hilt fittings show wear/age to factory gold wash on the oakleaf embellished backstrap/pommel/knucklebow with virtually no wear to the crossguard with cast eagle obverse langet. Black celluloid grip is perfect with no cracks, chips or surface damage, and is complete with triple aluminum wire wrap. Plated blade grades EX+ showing light age with a spot of lifting to the obverse/reverse blade tip but no pitting or nicks to cutting edge and is complete with a brown leather buffer pad. Scabbard retains approximately 98% of the original black enamel showing only minor surface wear. EX+.
