Armored Knight’s Torso (WKC) stamped TM. Gilded brass hilt fittings show light surface wear/age to highlights with 90% of the gold factory gilding remaining to the Imperial Pattern Crown pommel and fouled anchor crossguard. Beautifully toned Ivory grip shows almost no surface wear with no visible cracks or chips and is complete with tight twisted brass wire wrap. Grip features the Imperial Cypher/Monogram of Princess Sophie Charlotte of Prussia and daughter-in-law of Kaiser Wilhelm the Second along with the year 1918 in gilded brass. This dagger was presented to Admiral Voss in recognition of his efforts as Princess Charlotte’s escort and the guardian of her estate. Accompanying this dagger is a full length photograph of Admiral Voss wearing this exact same dagger. Plated double-etched blade grades EX+/EX++ showing very minor surface wear/runner marks and speckling but, no nicks to the cutting edges. Blade is complete with metal blade buffer and retains 96% of the light gray background frosting in the fouled anchor and floral motif etch pattern. Gilded brass hammered scabbard shows almost no wear and features the name “Voss” professionally engraved on a small polished “panel” above the upper scabbard band. Admiral Hans-Erich Voss 1987 – 1969 was a key military figure during the Third Reich and participated in many of the key events surrounding Adolf Hitler. Admiral Voss was present during the assignation attempt against Hitler on 20 July 1944. Admiral Voss had the unique distinction of being awarded the 20 July 1944 wound badge in all three grades. In his capacity as Navy Liaison Officer, Voss accompanied Hitler, Goebbels and their entourages into the Fuhrerbunker under the Reich Chancellery building in central Berlin in 1945. In the final days of the Third Reich, he became a close confidante of Goebbels and his wife, Magda Goebbels. The most historical dagger we have had to offer in years! EX+/EX++ (27855)
