E.&F. Hörster, sword within “H” double-oval TM. Gilted brass hilt fittings show light surface wear/age patina to highlights with virtually much of the factory gilting/lacquer remaining in the recesses of the lion head pommel with red glass eyes, raised oak leaf motif on back-strap, knuckle-bow and ferrule and, with raised crossed swords/floral motif on obverse langet. Reverse langet is personalized with an applied red enamel shield bearing the arms of the free city of Danzig consisting of a silver crown above two white enamel crosses. Black celluloid grip shows light surface wear with no cracks or chips and is complete with triple, twisted brass, wire wrap. Plain plated, blade measuring 31 ½” in length grades Exc/Exc+, showing light surface wear/runner marks with minor gray age speckling/shadowing and two tiny nicks to cutting edge. Is complete w/brown leather buffer pad. Steel scabbard shows surface wear with specks of oxidation to the anodized finish and several surface depressions to the obverse/reverse shell. Reverse upper scabbard is stamped “E.Z.”. EX+
