Description

No maker. Gilded hilt fittings retain 100% of the factory gilding showing virtually no wear or age to the domed pommel nut on rectangular base, upper and lower rectangular ferrules and straight, flat crossguard with recurved, rounded quillons. The lower grip ferrule is equipped with a push-button, blade tang spring release button. The simulated mother-of-pearl, rectangular, barrel shaped grip with beveled edges grades Near MINT showing only minor age with no cracks or chips. The plated straight, flat, center-ridge, cross-section, double-edged, blade grades Near MINT/MINT showing a few faint runner marks, but no gray shadowing, or nicks to cutting edges, and is complete with tan suede leather buffer pad. The reverse ricasso is numbered, “1472”. The dent-free, gilded brass scabbard grades Near MINT showing only faint speckling to factory lacquer with no wear to gilding. The obverse upper shell, between the oak leaf/acorn suspension bands, features a reposse’ relief fouled anchor within a cartouche with reposse’ borders while the reverse shell features a reposse’ relief facsimile of the Socialist Romanian Republic within a matching cartouche. Attached to the upper scabbard ring is a small, simulated mother-of-pearl plaque with the inscription, “DIN MINISTRULI FORTELOR ARMATE ALE REPUBLICII SOCIALISTE ROMANIA 1969” (For service to the Armed Forces of the Socialist Republic of Romania). The dagger is complete with a medium-brown, fine-grained wooden case measuring 8 ¼”W X 13″L X 2 ¼”D with unmarked exterior lid. The unlined interior lid matches the exterior while the lower portion of the case is covered in fitted red velvet to accept the dagger in the scabbard.
