On p. 273 of The Sword and Knife Makers of Germany 1850-2000 Volume I, A-L by the late Anthony Carter, the author states, …”Luftwaffe 1st and 2nd Model daggers were…often marked Puma above Solingen”. Silver-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear/age patina to pommel, upper and lower ferrules and crossguard with loss of plating to background of the pommel and crossguard swastikas. Dark blue leather grip shows light surface wear/minor loss of color, but no rips or tears, and is complete with tight, triple wire wrap. Plated blade grades EX+ showing light surface wear/runner marks and minor gray shadowing/speckling, but no nicks to cutting edges. Reverse blade is without Waffen-Amt stamp, and is complete with blue leather blade buffer pad. Blue leather covered scabbard shows wear/age with several small areas of missing leather on obverse and reverse, but no loose leather or damage to seam. Nickel-silver, upper, center, and lower scabbard fittings show surface wear/age patina matching the hilt fittings with minor scratches to the obverse center fitting and several “dings” to obverse lower fitting. All five, flush-mounted retaining screws are present.
