Description
No maker, which is correct for this 1936 chained SS dagger. This is the SS dagger nearly all Third Reich dagger aficionados would like to have in their collection, but a small number do because of the challenge in locating. Nice black ebony grip with perfect fittings, one hairline crack and chip on obverse side on the upper section near crossguard. The reverse side of grip has a small chip on the lower section near the crossguard. Blade grades EX+ with some runner marks and minor speckling to obverse/reverse sides of blade. No chips to cutting edge of blade and blade tip remains intact. The “Meine Ehre Heibt Treue” motto maintains 90% of its gray background frosting. Grip hilt fittings are nickel silver plated and show normal wear/age. Black lacquered scabbard has no dents and retains 97% of original paint. The chain and scabbard fittings show no dents or scratches and are complete with 4 original dome head screws. No damage to the ball on the lower scabbard fitting. The chain has 4 links on the lower and 2 links on the upper. The chain clip works properly. Complete with portepee.
