Description
An extremely rare well-preserved SS Model 1933 Service Dagger with acid-etched moto on the obverse side of blade inscribed with “MEINE EHRE HEIßT TREUE” (“MY HONOR IS LOYALTY”). The reverse ricasso bears a maker’s mark of “GOTTLIEB HAMMESFAHR, SOLINGEN-FOCHE”. The blade has some normal runner marks, no nicks or chips to the cutting edge, is in EXC++ condition and the tip remains intact. The crossguard fittings have minor oxidation and lifting but overall in EXC++ condition, with the lower reverse side of crossguard bearing the Roman numeral “III” stamped on the reverse side (Berlin). The grip is composed of a single piece of black lacquered wood and has some minor chips on the bottom obverse side of grip. The silvered German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika and the SS rune are properly inset in grip. The anodized scabbard shows normal wear due to age, the upper and lower fittings have minor scratches/indentations, and are complete with all four screws. The lower fitting has one small ding on the side and the ball is has a small dent in the tip. The brown leather vertical hanger shows age and wear but fits the upper scabbard perfectly, the clip functions well and is connected to the black leather belt loop.
