No maker. The overall length of Hirschfanger is 22”. It has a huge stag grip with 3 acorn brass fittings inset in grip. Approximately 90% of all original Hirschfänger skinning knives have been “lost to time” as has this one. Double-etched blade measures 15 3/4″, shows wear, graying/speckling throughout, a couple of nicks to cutting edge, and has a faded etched hunting scene on both sides of blade. Complete with green felt buffer pad. Brass hilt fittings show normal wear. The crossguard has a running stag/running board configuration. The clamshell depicts a stag and boar scene in a forest. Scabbard leather shows age/wear with dings mostly on the obverse side, has a perfect rear seam, brass upper and lower fittings show normal age/wear with a few dings, upper fitting is loose but in place with upper retaining staple, and is missing the lower staple.
