Description
Carl Eickhorn (stamped squirrel holding sword) TM. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear with some specks of lifting to reverse pommel and crossguard. Black bakelite grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips. Plated blade grades excellent++/Near MINT with light surface wear/runner marks but no lifting or nicks to cutting edge. Obverse blade features a 6” long frosted panel with central remembrance of service motto with oak leaf border and flanked on each end by a fire official helmet with neck protector, chin strap and swastika. Reverse blade features a 6” long frosted panel with the raised inscription in Gothic letters, “Berufsfeuerwehr München” (professional fire department Munich). Both obverse and reverse panels retain 100% of the background frosting, and blade is complete with black leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately 95% of its original black enamel which shows only minor surface wear/crazing. Bayonet is complete with black leather double-stitched frog and Fire Official bayonet portepee with bullion/red acorn. Portepee grades VG+ showing wear and toning with one strap cut. Extremely rare Third Reich bayonet!
