Carl Eickhorn, etched squirrel holding sword TM. Silver plated hilt fittings show very minor plating loss and speckling with approximately 70% of the factory lacquer remaining on pommel and crossguard, as well as factory darkening remaining in the recesses of the pommel cogwheel motif and crossguard with stylized TENO emblem on obverse langet. Medium yellow solid celluloid grip shows light surface wear, but no cracks or chips and is nicely toned. Plated blade grades EX++ showing only minor runner marks with no speckling or nicks to cutting edges. Blade is complete with black leather blade buffer pad with reverse etched with TENO eagle and “Ges.Gesch” and the serial number “1662” stamped on the upper obverse ricasso. Dent-free silver-plated scabbard retains approximately 30% of the original factory darkening/lacquer with no crazing and one very minor spot of speckling on lower scabbard tip. Scabbard throat is stamped with the matching serial number, “1662”. For more information on TENO sidearms, see pages 38 – 65 of Collecting the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich, Volume VII.
